Welcome
.

Campfire is a community of people who enjoy sharing the history and stories about Texas. Please add your old family letters and oral histories. Add your favorite quote from Texas literature and your own adventures, reflections and stories. Even a tall tale might hold some kernel of truth about the Texas experience!

Some of our newest participants at Campfire are the producers of the IMAX movie that's being filmed for the Texas History Museum. They will be selecting quotes from Campfire which famous Texas actors will speak over what will perhaps be the most beautiful film of Texas ever made. It will begin showing in IMAX theaters worldwide in 2003.

Campfire participants whose quotes are selected ~ and give permission for the State to use ~ will be credited in the film and provided free tickets.

Welcome to the Campfire ~ have fun!

Quote of the Week

"Most fathers worked as cowhands on the range. They left for the corrida Sunday night or before dawn on Monday morning, and returned home Friday night or Saturday at noon, only to leave again for the range two days later. But because of the size of the ranches, some of the men stayed out for fifteen days at a time; then they would come home for two days, rest before returning to the pastures, and the work cycle began again."
